A Lecture Series on Biomedical ResearchThe Stanford Explore Lecture Series is an exploratory series covering the fundamentals and current research areas represented by the five Institutes of the Stanford School of Medicine (Immunology, Neuroscience, Cardiovascular Medicine, Regenerative and Stem Cell Medicine, and Cancer Biology). The majority of the lectures will be led by Stanford graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, in addition to lectures given by select faculty. Lectures will cover topics from all 5 Stanford Institutes as well as other areas of biomedical research. There will also be special seminars which will include topics such as careers in science and medicine and health issues currently faced around the world. Although the focus of the series is participation in lectures, students will also have opportunities to experience several hands-on demonstrations and to participate in simulation labs at Stanford. Furthermore, there will also be opportunities to participate in lunch discussions about the college, graduate school and the medical school and application process. Beginning this summer, students may sign up one week at a time or for all 3 weeks. The exact topics (such as cancer, immunology, etc.) that will be covered each week will be announced on our website at the beginning of March 2012 when registration will open.
